9 – 10.30am | What is Optometric Vision Therapy
· Develop an understanding of Behavioural Optometry & the Role of the Behavioural Optometrist · Recognise the role of optometric management of learning related vision problems · How to effectively manage patients requiring vision therapy |
11 – 12.30pm | Basic Eye Anatomy
· Demonstrate knowledge of basic eye anatomy · Develop an understanding of the Visual Process · Develop an understanding of an Optometric Vision Examination |
1.30 – 3pm | Overview of Visual Pathways
· Develop an understanding of ocular physiology · Develop knowledge of the visual pathways · Ability to identify the salient points in a vision examination |
3.30 – 5pm | Visual Development
· Develop a knowledge of Visual Development · Develop an understanding of Primitive reflexes, · Develop an understanding of developmental milestones |
DAY 2 | Session Title: |
9 – 10.00 | Eye Movements & Fixation/ VT for Eye Movements
· Working knowledge of vision therapy techniques suitable for use with, or in the treatment of certain visual conditions or deficits in visual skills/abilities / · Develop an understanding of eye movements / Understanding of direction of visual attention in terms of control, accuracy & automaticity |
10.30 – 12.30 | Eye Movements & Fixation/ VT for Eye Movements
· Demonstrate knowledge of Pursuits · Develop an understanding of Saccades · Develop an understanding of Central/Peripheral processing

1.30 – 2.30 | Visual Processing Testing/VT for Visual Processing
· Develop an understanding of body schema, laterality, directionality · Develop an understanding of Sensory integration (visual motor, visual auditory, visual vestibular) · Develop an understanding of Visual thinking

· Develop an understanding of Visual thinking · Develop an understanding of sequential processing, visual analysis, visualization, visual imagery · Recognition of the potential consequences of refractive status · Recognition of Hyperopia, Myopia, Astigmatism, Presbyopia
