On the successful completion of this course the Optometrist will:
1) Have an overview of the role of consumer rights in their practice
2) Be aware of the history of New Zealand’s
consumer rights when receiving a health or a disability service
3) Able to describe the application of health and disability consumer rights in their clinical practice
4) Able to describe the requirements of their own service complaint resolution processes and the role of the Health and Disability Commissioner
5) Be aware of the support available from the health and disability advocacy service to consumers who wish to raise an issue or complaint with any health or disability service provider
