In many ways, clinical practice has led science in the quest for treating myopia. But a rigorous evidence base should evolve to ultimately be the keystone of the discipline. This presentation will consider the science, the fiction and what lies in between with regard to myopia and incorporate some ‘behind-the-data’ looks at published work. Topics covered will include the threat to global eye health, the case for treating all myopic children, some key pearls for clinical practice and some watch-outs when assessing different treatments. Multiple examples of our latest, yet-to-be published research will be presented.
