A presentation by Claire Fitzgerald & Jillian Applegate (Blind + Low Vision NZ).

Sharing Blind Foundation clients’ experiences at the time of diagnosis, including their emotional responses to the news that there may be no medical, surgical or optical means to improve their vision. They will share client stories, placing their vision impairment in the context of their individual home, work, social and family life. They will describe how the Blind Foundation supports Pacific, Maori and deaf-blind clients through culturally appropriate services and support; and discuss barriers to people with vision impairment accessing information and the environment, including best practice and legal issues. They will also briefly describe Blind Foundation services, including who and how Dispensing Opticians can refer.
