A presentation by James Gibbins (ACOD Director and Teacher).

The Dispensing Optician has a crucial role to play in the successful dispensing of today’s high-tech prescription lenses, and the final checking and quality control of the products we release from our practices to our trusting clients is an extremely important part of our dispensing. Throughout the Australian and New Zealand industries the attitude towards and conduct of final checking has been undergoing significant change, and the understanding and application of the national standards appears to have been slipping.

In this presentation James will review current industry practise, outline what industry leaders consider to be best practise, review the current Australian New Zealand Standards for Mounted Spectacle Lenses (AS/NZS ISO 21987:2011), and will apply the standard to several case studies.
