Our next BOP Eye Care Professionals CPD Forum for 2021 is taking place from 5.30pm, (with a 6pm start to discussion) on the new night of Thursday, on 12th August, with a 8pm finish.
In August we have a few special guests: Dr Keith Pine and Janice Yeoman from the NZ Prosthetic Eye Service will be present and giving a talk about current management of prosthetic eyes and scleral shells. It should be an excellent update for all of us, optometry and ophthalmology. After this will be our normal sharing of cases, please try and prepare something in the next month for this meeting, even if it is only something short.
The format of the evenings will normally have two components:
- a presentation from one of the ophthalmologists in attendance (TBA)
- Sharing of cases from the attendees.
This format relies on the participation of attendees. All optometrists present will be encouraged to prepare a short 5-10 minute presentation (ideally with powerpoint or OCT/ Photos/ Topography/ Visual Fields – please bring on flashdrive) of a case(s) from their clinic that was interesting/ challenging/ unusual. In short something that we can learn something from. An ideal format would be as follows:
- Clinical Findings
- Differential Diagnosis
- Discussion (ideally with clinical pearls or information from the literature related to the condition/case)
Following each case, discussion from the audience is encouraged.
The venue is the Tasting Room Function Centre, 11 Harrington St (Above Liquorland), Tauranga (Google maps link here).
Some light nibbles and drinks will be served from 5.30pm (courtesy of Dr Keith Pine – our sponsor for the evening) with a 6.00pm start to the discussion.
Please RSVP to email@example.com by 1 week before for catering purposes. Please also indicate that you have a case that you can prepare for a short case report.
