This presentation will be on the diagnosis and treatment of microbial keratitis. Most microbial keratitis is caused by bacteria and has the potential to damage vision. It is vital that Optometrists are able to recognise when severe cases need to be escalated and the management strategies for moderate forms that can be managed in community practice.

Learning outcomes:

1. Differentiate signs and symptoms of sterile compared to infectious keratitis
2. Design a microbial keratitis management plan including antibiotic treatment and adjunctive therapy
3. Recognise the principles of corneal laboratory diagnostic tests
