This article discusses the MIGS procedures available in Australia and New Zealand, the important studies showing their long-term efficacy and safety, and how these new procedures deliver confidence by maximising efficacy, reducing risks, and improving recovery, thereby allowing for early, effective glaucoma treatment.

At the completion of this CPD activity, participants should be able to:
1. Discuss the different types of minimally invasive glaucoma surgery,
2. Identify which patient populations are suitable for MIGS,
3. Describe the limitations of medical management including cost, adherence, side effects, and risk of progression, and
4. Recognise that by prioritising safety, MIGS procedures have lowered the threshold for surgical intervention with the goal of proving better intraocular pressure control and decreasing glaucoma medication burden.
