Optical coherence tomography (OCT) has widespread utility in eye care. People with glaucoma benefit from the inclusion of OCT in the diagnostic work-up through earlier diagnosis and reliable identification of glaucoma progression.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Understand how OCT captures high resolution images of ocular tissue,
Understand how optic nerve head parameters, retinal nerve fibre layer and ganglion cell layers are quantified,
Identify the role of OCT scanning in glaucoma diagnosis, with reference to the optic disc parameters, retinal nerve fibre and ganglion cell analysis, and
Be able to use OCT to identify features supportive of glaucoma progression.
