Contact
The tear film consists of many different components. When a contact lens is placed on the eye it may destabilise the tear film and compartmentalise the tear film into a pre-lens and post-lens region. Understanding the interaction of the tear film and its components with different contact lens materials may help improve the contact lens wearing experience for our patients. We will explore components of the tear film in relation to different contact lens material properties. The different properties of hydrogel and Silicone Hydrogel contact lenses will be explored.
Objectives:
1 At the completion, participants will be able to identify different component of the tear film
2 At the completion, participants will be able to describe the Pros & Cons of fitting hydrogel contact lenses
3 At the completion, participants will be able to discuss how components in the tear film may influence the performance of different lens materials
