Though extensive research has observed the use of social media by businesses, very little research has been done into the usage of social media as a marketing campaign for clinical practices, or spreading awareness of eye health. Thus, a pilot study, carried out by the University of New South Wales School of Optometry and Vision Science, explored the use of social media to increase interest in one’s optometry practice as well as community awareness of eye health.
